After an intense and turbulent 2016, we’re ready for our 2017 horoscopes to give us a little breathing room. Will the stars grant our wishes? Yes…but we have to co-create with them.
Whew! We made it through 2016, and what an epic feat that was. From turbulent global politics to the death of pop icons (RIP Prince, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, George Michael…) to a crazy U.S. election, there’s been no rest for our weary souls.
On top of the intensity of 2016 astrology, it was also the restless Year of the Monkey and an intense 9 Universal Year in numerology, a time of energetic transition and endings that can leave us all feeling drained. (Raise your hand if you can relate!)
In astrology news, NASA caused ripples of panic among horoscope fans when they fanned the flames of a rumor that there was a 13th zodiac sign, Ophiucus. Read our debunking of Ophiucus here—and breathe deeply, because you’re still the same zodiac sign as always!
Expansive Jupiter spent much of 2016 in detail-driven Virgo, which raised health-consciousness but also brought out a critical or nit-picky streak. And challenging Saturn spent all of 2016 in global Sagittarius, putting tough international conflicts on the world stage (the refugee crisis, Brexit, genocide in Syria, Russian hacking of the 2016 U.S. election…).
In 2017, Jupiter will be in peace-loving Libra until October 10, which will hopefully bring democratic and diplomatic upswings—even though things look shaky as of now. And Saturn will complete its tour of Sagittarius on December 19, 2017, guaranteeing that international conflicts will continue to be hashed out in the coming year. Saturn rules governments, hierarchies and leadership, and there’s no question with the incoming President-Elect that this will be a tense arena. (Read our “spiritual perspective” on the U.S. election here.)
Your 2017 horoscope will have its own set of curveballs, but there is also plenty to be hopeful about, too. We will now welcome a 1 Universal Year in numerology, and on January 27 we enter the flamboyant but fastidious Year of the Rooster. With the barnyard overlord at the helm, there is still plenty of work to be done. The 1 Year is the beginning of a long, nine-year cycle—and the crowing Fire Rooster will force us all to get #woke—and get busy—with the task of creating stability during uncertain times.
