Chatting with Pisces Antonio Sabato, Jr.
Single people, take heart: even a Calvin Klein underwear model and soap opera hunk struggles to find love. On our monthly SIRIUS/XM radio gig (“The Morning Jolt”), Ophira had the happy surprise of meeting Antonio Sabato, Jr. in the flesh. The sexy Pisces showed up to promote his new VH-1 reality show My Antonio, where 13 hopefuls compete for his heart — under the watchful eye of his Italian mama, a protective Cancer.
Antonio is a genuinely nice guy who knows quite a bit about astrology, and he let me read his stars on-air. I predicted that as a Pisces, he’s been in relationship boot camp for the last three years (knowing smile, nod). With Jupiter spending the year in his twelfth house of karma and closure, I also suggested that he was grappling with issues of closure, shedding guilt and letting go of the past. While he wouldn’t reveal the show’s outcome, a smile twitched on his luscious lips when I said, “Even if you don’t find true love, everything that happens on the show will prepare you to find it after November.”
I was already amused to see some classic traits of Antonio’s sign emerge on the show’s premiere episode. For example, Pisces rules the feet, and Antonio immediately sent a contestant home because he wasn’t attracted to her hands and feet. Later, he delivered a basket of mani-pedi supplies to the remaining contestants. The Pisces man can be fatally attracted to tortured and emotionally troubled women, too. From the start, he gets hooked by a hysterical, skittish contestant named Sarah, who bursts into nervous tears and scurries away whenever Antonio comes near. Hopefully he’ll learn an important Pisces lesson: don’t mistake crazy for confident, or insane for interesting. Avoid the allure of unstable people!
Antonio also hinted that he could reprise his role of Jagger on General Hospital. With Jupiter entering Pisces next year, he’s starting a new 12-year cycle. Much as we’d love to see the Jagger-Brenda storyline again, we suggest moving on to something completely different. As for My Antonio (which I’m already addicted to now), it’s questionable whether he’ll find the mind-body-soul match that a Pisces man requires. If not, allow me to play astro-yenta and endorse him to you single girls. In the short hour we spent, I could see that he’s a fiercely devoted dad (he has two kids) and a no-bullshit guy who wants to form a real connection. He was no different on his show than he was in the radio studio, and I liked that. No wonder mama wants the best for him!
My Antonio airs Sundays at 10pm EST on VH1.
