Saturn in Libra: The World Needs Love, Sweet Love

Saturn, the planet of discipline, maturity and wisdom has just entered Libra, where it will stay until October 2012. Libra rules justice, democracy, the arts, diplomatic relations and partnership. It’s time to lay down those weapons and reach compromise. Laws and structures that are blatantly biased will crumble. We may see new policies around gender equity and greater understanding between the sexes. Everyone will have to give something up for the greater good.

Saturn just spent the last two years in practical Earth-sign Virgo, bringing world attention to green causes like sustainability and environmental law. The recession was also due in part to Saturn in Virgo restricting everyone’s bottom line. Saturn’s motto could be “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Fortunately, Saturn is “exalted” in Libra, meaning it’s happiest visiting this sign. While the next three years will bring fresh round of life lessons, Saturn will be more like a firm-yet-loving parent than a cruel taskmaster.

Interestingly, 2012 has been pegged as the next age of enlightenment — a time when peace, a Libra theme, will come to Earth. (Contrary to Hollywood’s Armageddeon-style sendup, we don’t expect buildings to be devoured by the sea or brimstone to hail down.) Humanity will reach a tipping point in its spiritual and energetic development. Can weighty Saturn in Libra shift our planet away from hate and toward love? Let’s hope so. As the old no-nukes protestors used to say, “Arms are for hugging.”

In your own life, Saturn will offer you the chance to build character through challenges and vital life lessons. Here’s where you’ve got some growing up to do, or need to add more serious structure to your life:

ARIES: Partnerships, relationships, compromise, listening to others’ point of view

TAURUS: Health, fitness, organization, starting a “green” business, service to mankind, being humble at work

GEMINI: Love, romance, creativity, pregnancy, children, taking relationships one step at a time

CANCER: Home, family, parents (especially mother), women, children

LEO: Communication, taking your ideas seriously, writing and publishing, teaching

VIRGO: Money, budgeting, work, resourcefulness, confidence

LIBRA: Self-esteem, presentation, asserting yourself, first impressions, decisiveness, leadership, overcoming ego, learning patience

SCORPIO: Spirituality, healing, mysticism, letting go of things that no longer serve you, asserting boundaries

SAGITTARIUS: Humanity, nonprofit ventures, online projects, radio and television, teamwork, upgrading your circle of friends

CAPRICORN: Career, ambition, leadership, business plans, respect for authority, maturing in relationship with fathers and men

AQUARIUS: Travel, education, metaphysical studies, developing faith in yourself and the universe

PISCES: Intimacy, joint finances, real estate, wealth, maturing around sexuality and trust, earning passive income

Buckle Down: Last few days of Saturn in Virgo

Countdown to celebration! Only three more days til’ Saturn exits Virgo ending a restrictive phase that began in September 2007. We’ve all plowed through Cosmic Boot Camp since then, being forced to address the sloppy areas in our lives and fine tune them with the precision of an Air Force One pilot.

Yes, Saturn in Virgo is all about the details. Its lesson was once of great importance: through structure there is freedom. Through simplicity there is room to appreciate luxury. On October 29, Saturn will move on to Libra (check back with us then and we’ll tell you all about it). Saturn in exalted in Libra, meaning it’s at its most powerful station of all the signs. This phase lasts until October 6, 2012, marking a period of growth through beauty, relationships, peaceful accord, and strategic alliances. Though Saturn’s lessons are never easy (think of them as growing pains), they’ll be a lot less intense than they were these past two years.

In these final few days of Saturn in Virgo, make sure you take the following lessons with you into the next phase of growth. Here’s the nugget of wisdom for each sign:
Aries: getting on a steady routine with assignments and work

Taurus: removing dramatic antics from your love life

Gemini: understanding the importance of a well-kept home; standing still!

Cancer: communicating clearly and openly (especially with siblings and coworkers)

Leo: budgeting, owning your power over money

Virgo: initiating projects, asserting your vision, letting yourself dream big!

Libra: healing from psychological pain instead of sweeping it under the rug

Scorpio: networking, expanding your circle of contacts, working with a team

Sagittarius: adding structure to your career; playing “The Man’s” game; healing daddy issues

Capricorn: being unabashedly honest about your vision and feelings; not having to fit into society’s approved image of who you should be

Aquarius: Allowing intimate feelings to melt your logical defenses; investing in yourself for the long-term; healing real estate troubles

Pisces: Maturing your vision of a romantic relationship.

10/19 Yes, You Should Call Him

Oh. No. Not. Another. Bon. Bon. The Sun winds down its sugarcoated tour of Libra this week urging us to indulge in the sweet, sweet nectar of a Hallmark moment (or three). Mercury and Venus are also groovin’ along through Libra, pumping us up with courage. Declarations of love should not be withheld. (Call him already, wouldya?!) The bravado’s not gonna last forever. By the time this week ends, the reigns will be passed to spicy, scintillating and secretive Scorpio. Before you lose your nerve, take a cue from our childhood friend Norman and just put it out there already!

A Push For Passion: Mars in Leo 10/16/09

Strap on the booster packet and rocket towards your dreams. It’s officially “me time” for every single one of us. Go-getter Mars enters Leo today for a rare eight month stint. Normally, the red planet (which is said to rule our drive, ambition, and warrior nature) hangs out in a sign for around eight weeks. So, this is definitely a rare occurrence–and one that’s not to be wasted.

Leo’s energy pushes us out onto life’s playground to build those proverbial sandcastles. Remember the days when you knew for certain that you could be anything from an astronaut to the President of the United States? That wide-eyed optimistic spirit permeates the air for the next six months. (No coincidence, groundbreaking Prez Barack Obama is born under the hope-fueled sign of Leo.) Creative flourishes and romantic subplots are a must in all that we do.

Here are the areas that Mars makes red-hot for you in the next eight months. This is not a passive planet, mind you. If you want to reap new results, you’ll have to pass a few tests along the way. Willpower and determination are must-haves in your toolbox. Press on!

Aries: Independent projects, romance, pregnancies, gaining fame, taking creative risks
Taurus: Family stability, home life (renovating, relocating, etc), nutrition
Gemini: Media projects, becoming known on the local scene, expanding knowledge base
Cancer: Financial planning, building a solid base, gaining self-confidence
Leo: Self-awareness, solo projects, making a name for yourself, assertiveness
Virgo: Spiritual growth, working with guides (coaches, agents, etc), healing
Libra: Working with groups, humanitarian projects, gaining popularity and recognition
Scorpio: Making impressive business connections, family stability, career promotions
Sagittarius: Media projects, international travel, entrepreneurial ventures
Capricorn: Lump sums of money like commissions and inheritances, intense sexual chemistry
Aquarius: Romantic relationships, business partnerships, careers in fashion, beauty & the law
Pisces: Health kicks, volunteering, locking in steady work, financial stability

Expand Your World: Jupiter Direct 10/12/09

Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion turns direct today after a four month retrograde. Our grandiose plans may have gotten slightly derailed since June 15th, sending us back to the drawing board to strengthen and fine tune our dreams. Now, enough research and internal reflection has been done to fill both a think tank and a Betty Ford clinic. We’re ready to take flight and apply our knowledge, trusting in its integrity and truth.

While this affects all twelve signs, the most strongly affected are Sagittarians (who are ruled by Jupiter) and Aquarians (since Jupiter is traveling through Aquarius this year).

Here’s where your sign can expand once again–and where you’ll find good fortune:
Aries:
Working with groups and teams; organizing humanitarian projects, online businesses
Taurus: Establishing yourself with career and family, project leadership
Gemini: Travel, publishing, entrepreneurial ventures, cross-cultural relationships
Cancer: Intimate relationships, commission-based jobs
Leo: Romantic relationships, business partnerships, legal affairs
Virgo: Healthy routines, medical dealings, efficiency, job searches
Libra: Romantic and creative self-expression, stage performances, children, pregnancies
Scorpio: Home (renovating, relocating), relationships with female relatives, work with women
Sagittarius: Entrepreneurial and online ventures, especially locally-based ones
Capricorn: Budgeting, healthy eating, daily routines
Aquarius: Personal projects, assertiveness, showing your true self to the world
Pisces: Mystical exploration, setting boundaries, healing, working with a large and charitable enterprise, creative ventures (especially poetry, dance, and music)

Halloween Costume Horoscopes (win $100 too!)

It’s been rumored (and in some cases, proven) that Halloween is an excuse for women to tart it up in skimpy costumes and unveil our suppressed sexuality. Hey, world, cut us a break. We’d love more than one day of the year to safely express a  full range of options for our necklines and hemlines. Unfortunately, human evolution has not caught up with every Neanderthal out there. So, Halloween it is for us. (Look, don’t touch…unless we say so.)

The 2009 cosmic lineup practically demands that we channel Lady Gaga’s pantsless pluck.  The Sun is always in Scorpio on October 31st–the zodiac’s official sexpot–which might just explain that whole rumor a bit…The moon (which changes position annually) will be in brazen Aries this Halloween, kicking up our desire to shock and stand out from the crowd. It’s all about competition; push the envelope!

To help you lock in first prize at that costume contest we’ve put together a sign-by-sign Halloween Costume guide with our partners and pals at mylifetime.com. You can even win $100 for posting a photo of your craziest costume ever: bonus!

Do you know all the steps to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” dance (or should you learn them posthaste)? Do you have arms that rival Michelle Obama’s and the conviction to carry off her strong-willed charm? Has enough time passed to safely dust off your Britney Spears’ plaid miniskirt and still be original? Get the jumpstart right here, folks, and let the cutting, stitching, and shopping begin!  http://www.mylifetime.com/astrology/horoscopes/halloween-costume-ideas-for-your-sign?sign=virgo

Money & Love: This Week’s Forecast

With so many planets circulating through Libra and Virgo, we’re at quite an interesting balance point. Lusty Libra wants to get lost in the romance of the moment, smother every dish in butter sauce, uncork endless bottles of wine, and find any excuse in the book to wear high heels and glitter eye shadow.

Virgo, balks as such open displays of ostentation. Spend lavishly when it’s not a special occasion? Good lord, no! Prudence (and sometimes prudery) are the Virgoan siren’s song.

So how does one walk such a delicate line? Especially in the areas that seem to matter most to people: our cashflow and our romantic affairs. We’ve prepared a weekly Career & Moneyscope and weekly Lovescope to help you navigate these seas. Check ‘em out at our sister site on  mylifetime.com.

Sequined Weekend: Aries Full Moon

There’s a full moon in Aries this weekend: the zodiac’s firepowered, independent, “my way or the highway” ingenue. Everyone’s a star…but who will sit in the audience and applaud? Hmmm…Think about scheduling some alone time as well as a few solo missions. Dueling agendas will pockmark the days and no one’s gonna be too quick to compromise.

Not that you’ll be bored or lonely…

Aries knows well the power of a one-woman show. Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross…all born under the sign of the Ram. Harness their big-haired, short-hemlined, blindingly-sequined charm and pour it towards one of your passions. Away from your de facto crowd of friends–as well as the expectations, roles, and dynamics your crew has slipped into–you’ll discover unexplored parts of your personality. This is the perfect weekend for inventing your alter ego…or bringing her out to play with a tantalizing group of strangers.

Or, if you’re in the mood to stay in, download a season of “Sex and the City,” and live vicariously through the charmed life of Aries Sarah Jessica Parker. Other retro options starring a$$kicking Ramgirls: “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (Sarah Michelle Gellar) or “Alias” (Jennifer Garner).

We recommend action, however, especially around a project that’s near and dear to your heart. The seeds you planted six months ago, near the Aries new moon on March 26, are ready to bear fruit. This full moon is known as the Harvest Moon, after all which means your work is ripe for the picking. Debt your one-woman show, sprinkle your projects with starpower and advertise them on the proverbial marquis. Self-promotion is the name of the game. Recommended weekend reading: “Brag! The Art of Tooting Your Own Horn Without Blowing It” by Peggy Claus
