Who else is addicted to “The Real Housewives of (insert city)”? There ain’t no shame in our game about it. So, we were tuned in full throttle this Monday to watch the New Jersey season unfold.

Let’s just get the spoiler out of the way right now: Danielle is a Leo.

What other sign would be so hopped up at the thought of fame, living vicariously through her daughter’s walk down the runway?

“I’ll be with her every step of the way,” said Danielle, who couldn’t turn down a chance to pose for a photo taken by the ex of NY Housewife (and Taurus) Kelly Bensimon.

Honestly, we feel for her daughter. The girl is what, 14, and already she’s being steered towards overemphasizing the importance of her looks. She seems like a grounded, smart, girl who has to be her mother’s mother.

Oh Danielle, stop being such a vain Leo,and embrace your more regal qualities. Stop making your daughters sit in as advisors on your crazycalling. Carve out your own niche instead of trying to turn them into cash cows in eight-inch heels.

We seldom get this fired up about reality stars, but we hate to see two bright, beautiful girls forced to grow up so quickly because their mom is so immature. Danielle’s antics this week exemplify the shadow side of the Leo woman. We do hope she can turn it around and stop the drama addiction her sign falls prey to. But, from the previews, it looks like more clashes with Tauruses Teresa and Jacqueline, Pisces Dina, and Virgo Caroline. Hell hath no fury like a Leo woman scorned!

The Sun enters restless, flirtatious Gemini this week giving us a case of wanderlust (wander + lust). Whether single or spoken for, our eyes are sure to be roving. Hey, we’re only human. Looking isn’t the same as cheating, now is it? That’s the $20,000 question this week. It’s a hands-on kind of week, as a new moon in Taurus amps up our sensuality. The power of good-old-fashioned romance is not to be underestimated. Save the bump n’ grinds for the “Sex in the City 2” premier, and opt for the unbeatable basics: kissing, handholding, slipping perfumed notes into bags and briefcases. We’ll all be craving affection, whether single or spoken for. Pampering ourselves with pedicures, hot stone massages, and hair treatments can keep that hunger from getting too great (and thus making us needy or overly touchy-feely on dates). This past weekend, I found myself sucked into the MTV wasteland of “Jersey Shore.”  Since moving to Seattle a year ago, I’ve been missing that East Coast slang, and hey, if it had to come from reality fame whores named Snooki, The Situation, and JWoww, well, I was willing to take it. Being as it was January 2nd and all (and perhaps the fact that Domino’s Pizza had yanked their ads), I was assaulted with commercial after commercial for home fitness equipment. The Bender Ball, created by a trainer with the convenient name of Leslee Bender, claimed to target the “extension” and the “flexion” of abs.

Flexion???

Call me a purist, but I’d rather learn the proper names for yoga asanas than figure out what on earth the word “flexion” means. Still, the wake up call of New Year’s wellness resolutions did not escape me. I, like most Americans am still dusting the Christmas cookie crumbs off my couch cushions (and the latke flakes too, Mom). I wouldn’t mind becoming a bit more acquainted with my core, especially now that the Sun and Mercury are in goal-oriented Capricorn. Then there’s a promising solar eclipse in Cap on January 15th–an  ideal time to commit to a healthier, earthier, and (dare I say) crunchier lifestyle.

The nice thing about living in Seattle is that there are lots of wonderful resources for anyone who wants to channel her inner hippie. Yoga studios are plentiful, offering chances to detox the system through deep stretching. I now know people who live on sustainable farms, just a ferry ride away from my downtown pad. My friend Carrie grows her own potatoes and makes soap with lavender she picks fresh from her farm. Stephanie, another enlightening new friend, is an impresario in the natural food world, defining what winds up on the shelves of a leading earth-conscious grocery store chain.

I admire this so, but haven’t been connected to my green thumb since working for my dad’s landscaping biz as a teen. My attempts to grow tomatoes this summer yielded a small crop; the basil not so much. I’m not a farmer, at least not now, but I’m learning that there’s power in making different choices. I often rib my sister Leora (fondly nicknamed “Reverend Raw”) for her zeal about raw foods and buying only organic produce. As I learn more and more about the damage that pesticides and non-organic farming does to the Earth’s soil and water, I find myself willing to spend a little more on my produce and meat. This is a privilege, at the moment, I recognize. Perhaps if the demand for consciously-farmed foods grows, the supply will also increase (and the prices hopefully will even out).

Heck, even Wal-Mart is catching onto the organic trend. I discovered this when watching the eye-opening documentary “Food, Inc.” I highly recommend renting it and checking out the website that’s rich with ideas and resources. With interviews from the authors of “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” and “Fast Food Nation,” it will definitely wake you up to making more conscious choices at the grocery store.

Reverend Raw herself sent me a great birthday gift, the book “Raw Food Life Force Energy” by Natalia Rose. While I find it hard to get as exuberant about a stalk of kale as the author does, it’s an upbeat and inspiring read. Who wouldn’t want to consume a leafy green when it’s compared to ingesting pure sunlight? The live enzymes still percolating in locally-grown produce, the chlorophyll siphoned in from the Sun.. I have to admit, my skin is looking pretty radiant since I started eating kale last week and replaced the sugar jar with a bottle of agave nectar. I even whipped up a dessert recipe from TheRawChef.com and it was damn tasty.
So here’s my plug for all things live, raw, and organic. For Sun Salutations and Down Dogs…wow, that earthy Capricorn energy has got me in its grips! While I have nothing against boot camp workouts (the diet industry is another story), I see no need to punish myself into “fitness” this New Year. My resolution is to be a conscious consumer. To understand the deeper meaning behind “you are what you eat.” While I don’t expect perfection, or to become BFFs with the macrobiotic Gwyneth Paltrow, I don’t want to blind myself to what I’m putting in my mouth or my grocery basket this year.

On a flight to Miami yesterday, I was indulging in my customary habit of reading Us Weekly to distract myself from the jitters I always get when the plane takes off. The cover story was about Scorpio Josh Duhamel. Not even a year after his marriage to Fergie, an Atlanta stripper has come forward insisting he spent a wild night with her.

I’m not the type who wants to believe bad things about celebrities–especially not Fergie, whom I love because she’s a self-made (re-made) Aries woman who got married in her mid 30s and can hold her own in front of millions of people. She’s confident enough to piss her pants onstage then bounce back with a hit called “Big Girls Don’t Cry” (one of my karaoke favorites). He couldn’t do this to…her…or could he?

My mind went over to Josh Duhamel’s star sign, naturally. Upon recalling the fact that he is a Scorpio (November 14) I noticed my own indictment forming. (Sorry Scorpios–you DO have a reputation here). Having many beloved Scorpio men in my life, I realize that this is unfair. Still it comes up quite often in our readings…are Scorpio men notorious cheaters?

The answer is both no…and yes. Scorpio is the sign of extremely extreme extremes. They can be loyal to a fault, hanging on to the memory of an ex for decades after a breakup. One-on-one relationships appeal to them as they like to get intensely entwined with a mate. Still, they need the freak factor to be strong in their relationships. Otherwise, the chances of them straying for a “meaningless romp” here and there increases significantly. Aries (like Fergie) are known for putting on a blushworthy sexy show but can be shockingly prim behind the scenes. (Look at Ramstress Mariah Carey.) A Scorpio ex of mine once popped in his favorite porno to spell out his wishes. Unfortunately, our fantasies did not align and the relationship promptly ended.

So can a Scorpio man remain faithful and monogamous? Absolutely. Yes. But if you’re the type who wears miniskirts in public then swaddles herself in a granny robe when you get home, the odds are not stacked in your favor. You’ll have to tend to your sex goddess to keep him intrigued. Sign up for that pole dancing class (irritatingly trendy though it may be), forget to wear panties on date night, and be ready to take a tantric retreat in Thailand on a moment’s notice.

Not up for all that “extra” work? Well, you might want to try a simpler sign. Otherwise, you could just find your man in the tabloids before you’ve had a chance to say “honeymoon.”

Do you see the number 1111 in uncanny proportions? This phenomenon actually started for us AstroTwins right after September 11th. We were both living in New York City when the towers fell and had just started writing our first astrology column for “Teen People” magazine. In the wake of the tragedy, New Yorkers had little choice but to grapple with questions about mysticism, mortality, and what happens to the soul when it leaves the Earth plane.

Almost daily we would glance up and see 11:11 or 1:11 on the clock. Our microwave would have stopped at 1:11. The address on the Time Warner building where “Teen People” resided was 111 51st St. Meetings would be in Suite 111 or 1111 so many times that we couldn’t help but give pause.
