Monthly
Horoscope:
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
March 2009
Your mind is a powerful tool, Capricorn. How are you using it? This month, spend the first three weeks doing an “intention inventory.” In other words, pay attention to your thoughts. Conscious or not, they are shaping your reality. It’s time to use them for your own good. What do you want to have happen next? If you’re not thinking about it or speaking about it with heartfelt conviction, it may not come about.
A common Capricorn stumbling block is inflexibility. Once you set your mountain-goat mind on something, you can rival Taurus in your stubbornness. At times, you’re like a monkey that won’t let go of its banana, even though the banana is rotten. No offense, Cap—you’re much smarter than a primate. But we all carry some Darwinian traits of our animal ancestors.
There’s an upside to your tenacity, of course. You’re loyal, devoted and consistent, the person who follows through on her word. However, this month you must question your own loyalty—to people, beliefs, values, your lifestyle. What are you holding onto, and why? If it doesn’t carry your dreams forward, let the damn thing go.
You should also rethink the way you perceive and present yourself. Imagine that you’re a brand, and you’ve been hired to create a marketing campaign for Product You. In a tough economy, you must find your winning traits, and emphasize them in a unique, catchy way. If you’re single, a great exercise would be to set up an online dating profile for yourself. Talk about a perfect challenge! You have to hone in on your best qualities and sell yourself a little. Or, write a 1-paragraph bio of yourself—and not just your work achievements. Ask your friends for honest feedback.
On March 11, the Virgo full moon will help you see yourself in an expansive new light. This moon falls in your visionary ninth house, ruler of travel, study and inspiration. It should bring a burst of optimism that’s worth capitalizing on. An entrepreneurial project, especially one started in the Fall, could take flight at this full moon.
Even better, the full moon forms a harmonious “trine” angle to Pluto, ruler of deep transformation. Pluto is in Capricorn, so March 11 brings a shining moment to reinvent yourself, come out of hiding, and take a chance on yourself! You’ll be betting on a winning horse, so don’t shy away from a little risk.
It wouldn’t hurt to print new business cards and keep your Internet profiles up to date, since you’re likely to hear from a lot of contacts this month. The Pisces sun lights up your communication sector until March 20, so it’s a great time to be in touch with friends and contacts. Working with your hands is favored, so try writing, creating a blog, crafting, technical work, art or music—it’s all fun and cathartic now.
In love news, things are improving for Capricorns this year, mainly due to a newfound surge of confidence. Since January, expansive Jupiter has been in your self-esteem sector. Many Caps have finally realized that the old cliché is true: how can anyone love you if you don’t love yourself first? Rather than carry a huge checklist of qualities you want in your so-called perfect mate, focus on being a great and worthy person instead. Few mortals can live up to the expectations of a Capricorn, so spare yourself the grief and stop having expectations. They only lead to disappointment. Instead, keep a vision of a happy, fulfilling partnership. Just don’t forget the “f”-word we mentioned earlier: be FLEXIBLE.
You’ll certainly need to be, since love-planet Venus is retrograde (backward) from March 6-April 17. Venus is in Aries, your fourth house of femininity, family and home. Retrogrades can cause bumps in the road, or bring back the past. Old issues with your parents, especially your mother, could flare up. Capricorn, this is the perfect opportunity to do some necessary healing. If a part of you still blames or resents your mom for something, it’s time to let that go. If you’ve had tension with a female friend or relative, clear the air.
Nurturing yourself a little more than usual is key. Maybe it’s time to redecorate, especially your bedroom. Is your house an inviting space for love, success, or whatever energy you want to welcome into your life? Try a little space clearing, even feng shui. Cooking for yourself is also important now. Pick up a few old family recipes. You might also stroll the flea market for vintage accessories to give your outfits a more feminine flair.
After the 20th, the Sun moves into Aries, and things wind down into a more domestic vibe overall. On the 26th, the Aries new moon is joined here by Mercury, Venus and the Sun. If there was ever a week to stay home and cozy up, it’s the end of March. Reconnect with family, spend time with your parents, and invite a few close friends over for dinner and a movie. It’s all about roots and making sure your own foundation is solid. Women are particularly beneficial, so spend time with your favorite female friends and role models.
