Everything feels so intense right now, which is kind of exciting, but also a bit overwhelming to you, Capricorn. Are you feeling the need to retreat or withdraw? Not a bad idea. There’s an epiphany waiting for you, but you’ll have to turn your attention within to experience it.
That shouldn’t be hard. On August 1, a total solar eclipse hits your eighth house of privacy, sex, property, and large financial resources. (Sounds funny to put all those things together, we know.) The eighth house is governs so many different things, that it would almost be useful to make a list of the possible surprises that could appear in your life out of nowhere:
- A passionate affair or steamy new sex partner
- A marriage proposal or a big breakup
- A real estate deal—selling or buying property, signing a lease, fixing up your home
- An inheritance or legal matter
- A sudden large windfall (or large bill)
- A commission check or passive income opportunity
- An urge to bare your soul and get more intimate than ever with people in your life
- A shocking secret or confession
- News of a birth, death or surgery
- A psychic epiphany or new spiritual path
- A burst of jealousy that motivates you to improve your life circumstances
See—we told you there was a lot going on. Whatever the case, the eighth house will have an interesting effect on you. Capricorn, you’re a workhorse, the kind who likes to earn everything by the sweat of your own brow. If you didn’t make it with your bare hands or suffer for it, you feel like you’ve cheated the system. Often, you’re blind to the complications and frustrations this hardcore work ethic can create. Not just to you, but to the people who love you. They might be a little sick of watching you writhe in agony or burn out with exhaustion as a result of your own stubbornness!
This month, the stars invite you to open your arms to the divine. Instead of forcing and “doing” and proving, just….stop. It’s time to do a lifestyle version of a “trust fall.” Scoff if you will, but the universe does provide when we let it. When we’re not still, the universe can’t locate us to make a dropoff. Cap, if you’re always face down with your nose to the grindstone, you’re missing the goods. Don’t get all caught up in a conversation about whether you “deserve” the happiness others around you seem to enjoy. The universe doesn’t discriminate. People do. On that note, who died and made you judge and jury of who deserves to be happy (including yourself)?
We have yet to meet a Capricorn who doesn’t have a latent spiritual side. So our advice? Meditate, chant, walk or bike through nature (especially by water, as the eighth house is ruled by the water element). Go to the beach and don’t do a goddamn thing. Book an appointment with an energy healer or massage therapist—anything to re-open your receptors.
On August 16, a second eclipse falls in your second house of money and self-worth. This is a Full Moon eclipse, which indicates an ending or closure. Is there a part of your job that you totally hate? Why not delegate it to somebody else and make room for more of what you love? Are you wasting money on things you don’t use, like the full HBO-Showtime-Cinemax package when you never watch TV, or a land line that sits silently on the charge ‘cuz everyone calls your cell? Trim the fat. If you have habits, beliefs or constant complaints that break down your sense of self, put yourself in self-esteem boot camp. Vow to stop comparing your thighs to cottage cheese or wishing you weren’t so damn [insert personality trait here]. Instead, pamper yourself and revamp your image with beautiful new clothes and self-care. This month more than ever, the saying is true: garbage in, garbage out!
By August 23, the intensity begins to lift and you can truly see the world from a much broader scope. The Sun will move into Virgo and your ninth house of optimism, expansion and the higher mind. This is also the travel part of your chart, so treat yourself to a well-deserved vacation. If you’ve thought of going back to school or publishing (books, websites, magazines…whatever format), you could be inspired to do so, too. You could feel the urge all month, since five planets will visit Virgo in August.
If you’re motivated to make a career change, action-planet Mars enters your tenth house of career from August 20-October 4. Work could get demanding, and you could even rocket to a position of leadership. If your job isn’t a fit, you’ll no longer be able to ignore it, as the dynamic tension Mars creates will force a necessary change. Should this happen, don’t panic. You’ll land in something that’s a much better fit during this cycle.
Capricorn, your faith will be challenged this month, but know that what’s challenging you are old fears and feelings that are way past their prime. Release these into the universe’s care. An internal “detox” will make way for an exciting September, when life goes into fast-forward motion. Might as well use this month to prepare!
