Are you ready for a new financial future? Since late August, several planets have toured your second house of money and self-worth. On September 24, your ruler Mercury went retrograde (backward) here, causing you to seriously rethink the way you handle finances or earn your pay. Virgo, you might realize that you’re ready for a completely new gig—or at least, a new attitude. Although some financial frustrations could be part of the package, overall, they’re probably pointing you ina new direction. Is it time to cut some dead weight or streamline your operations?
Mercury retrograde, which lasts until October 15, makes it a good time to press “pause” and reflect. You’re a diligent soul who takes pride in your work, but are you valuing yourself based on what you do, rather than who you are? With your self-critical nature, you can be so hard on yourself. While it’s great to be productive, you want to make sure you’re working “smarter, not harder,” as the cliché goes. We know that you hate to feel lost or out of control, but you may have to deal with that while you find your groove. Ride it out.
A larger theme of reinvention has been coloring your life since September 2007, when Saturn, planet or discipline and structure, entered Virgo. Saturn will be in your sign until October 29, 2009, forcing many Virgos to reinvent your identity from the ground up. At times, Saturn’s lessons have been harsh, though for other Virgos, they’re welcome. Deep down, you knew you were ready for that next level. The challenge is sitting still and just “being” until you clarify what that next move is!
In October, don’t be afraid to play. Start by asking questions, Virgo. On the 5th, passionate Mars enters Scorpio and your third house of communication. Set up informational interviews, write down ideas, attend lectures, browse books. The third house is ruled by curious Gemini, the zodiac’s dilettante. The key is to dabble as fully as you can, so you can quickly sort out what turns you on and what doesn’t. Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty, Virgo. Venus will also be in Scorpio until October 19, bringing exciting new friends and romantic interests through your exploration. In fact, a friendship or casual connection could spark into something deeper. Classes, bookstores and online dating sites are all favorable ways to meet someone. Asking friends to set you up may seem old-fashioned, but this month, it’s a great idea. During the Mercury retrograde period, an old friend might even show up out of the blue, confessing romantic feelings. You never know!
On a larger scale, you’re due for a relationship revolution, Virgo. (Yes, everything is really big-picure for you now!) From October 9-December 2, Saturn will oppose rebellious Uranus, planet of surprises and revolution. Uranus is in your seventh house of committed partnerships, making relationships feel like a bumpy roller-coaster. You may have seen partners come and go—in both business and personal affairs. Or, you could find yourself attracted to a dynamic person who makes you feel both enlivened and queasy at the same time…so out of control! If you’re in a relationship, one of you may feel an irrepressible urge for freedom. It doesn’t mean you’ll break up at all; you’ll just need to reconfigure life to allow for more variety.
Here’s some imagery that could help you understand these contrasting energies. In astrological metaphor, Saturn is the strict, authoritarian parent while Uranus is like a rebellious teenager who steals the car keys and sneaks off to wild parties. With these planets positioned opposite each other, you’ll feel completely torn between these forces. Who will win? The law-and-order part of you that plays by the rules and earns makes your bed with military-regulation hospital corners? Or the wild child who’s desperate to throw off that “virgin” reputation and start a revolution?
Ultimately, your mission is to make a safe playspace for both of these energies: your anal retentive inner drill sergeant, and the raging, desire-driven side of your nature. If you’ve swung too heavily in either direction, arrange your life to accommodate both.
