Editor’s note: We’re excited to bring you our monthly Crystal Horoscopes column by spiritually savvy and dynamic Gemini, Chartreuse Tembo Barriere, founder of Age of Eleven. Each month she will bring us tips on how to use crystals and gemstones for the astrological season, so we can stay aligned and in tune with the energy of both the heavens and the Earth. Enjoy! -Tali & Ophi
This month’s crystal horoscopes teach you how to tap into the cleverness of quick-witted Gemini. By working with the healing powers of crystals and precious gemstones, you can embrace the dualistic nature of the chatty Twins, and create synergistic partnerships that are built to last.
Crystals and Astrology:
Every planet and star sign has corresponding crystals that share their energetic resonance. Think of it this way: The planets are massive, heavenly rocks that influence the energy fields on Earth, while crystals are massive, inner-earth rocks that can also influence our bodies here on the Earth’s surface. In other words, just as the big planetary rocks in the heavens are an astrological macrocosm of our lives, the rocks below us in the earth are a microcosm of our experience. Consciously working with crystals and gemstones that correlate with the energy of each astrological season can benefit the mind, body and spirit.
As crystals form within the earth, rocks and minerals are in a constant process of transformation: creation, change and dissolution. The zodiac reflects this process from the spark of the birth of Aries (the first sign of the zodiac), the growth through the signs, and the completion and undoing in Pisces (the twelfth sign).
The Gemini Resonance:
This year, the Sun is in Gemini from May 20-June 20, shifting our focus away from the slow and steadiness of grounded Taurus, to the communicative ways of Gemini, by surrounding ourselves with people whose skills complement our own, and utilizing those relationships as a tool for mirroring. After solidifying our goals during Taurus season, dynamic Gemini helps us identify key relationships than can make our dreams a reality. After all, we all get by with a little help from our friends! Gemini is the charismatic chameleon of the zodiac who is always searching for their other half among kindred spirits.
Ruled by the playful Twins and mental Mercury, Gemini has strong opinions and personalities, and they often need to be the center of attention. They are highly versatile love a good argument, but will often butt heads with those whose opinions differ from their own. It takes a lot to hold an Gemini’s attention span—though once they find their passion they go in all the way!
Gemini is an adaptable mutable sign and a flighty air sign. But as the third sign of the zodiac, Gemini can also be codependent. Although they talk a good game about their freedoms, many Gemini yearn for their relationships to be like a mirror. This sign, while capable of commitment, can be whimsical and hard to pin down. A Gemini can fall in and out of love at a moment’s notice.
So hold on to your hats: Gemini season brings the winds of radical change. As the days become longer in the Northern Hemisphere, the first air sign of the astrological year is starting to heat things up.
Just as new habits take about a month to become ingrained, working with a crystal for several weeks helps your body to integrate the new vibration in conjunction with the stone. Working with the 28-day moon cycles is ideal, especially for women. Or you could start working with a new stone at the beginning of the month, or the start of a zodiac season—or of course, whenever it feels intuitively right.
Crystals form when liquid magma from the earth’s core moves toward the surface, cools down to solidify, then crystallizes over millions of years.
Blue Lace Agate and Apophyllite are the two crystals I recommend for Gemini season, Gemini-born natives, or anyone who desires to tap into the mutable, mercurial energy of this sign now, or at any time of year.
Properties of Healing Crystals
Blue Lace Agate:
Gemini rules the lungs, shoulders and the nervous system, and you can see how it manifests in the mental nature of people born under this sign. The natural multi-taskers of the zodiac are prone to nervous energy, flightiness, and may find it hard to sit still or focus on one thing.
Agates in general are highly resonant with Gemini energy, as they bestow mental clarity and assist in stabilizing the aura. Blue Lace Agate is a sky blue and white banded variety of agate/chalcedony, and this soft and light gemstone contains the qualities of flight, air, movement and grace.
As the first air sign, Gemini’s prime area of operation is in the mental and social realms. It can be easy for ungrounded Gemini energy to spiral out, but working with Blue Lace Agate promotes cohesiveness of thought. This gemstone is said to help remove blockages from the nervous system and relieve shoulder and neck problems, which is exactly what Gemini energy needs when it gets overly heady or holds too much tension in the body.
Gemini is energy is very active and can benefit from the preservative and rejuvenating qualities of Apophyllite. The high water content of this mineral is a good counter for the airy nature of Gemini, and its resonance with the respiratory system resonates with Gemini’s medical rulership over the lungs.
Apophyllite enhances mindful analysis and clear transmission of information—both in words and on an energetic level. It promotes openness; breaking down any mental walls Gemini may build, and helps to counter negative thought spirals and anxiousness. A great tool for calming and grounding the spirit, apophyllite is a powerful stone for Reiki healing and other energetic work.
Apophyllite promotes inner peace, heals grief, activates the heart center, and allows the user to channel and absorb infinite universal energy and experience the true bliss of oneness.
Blue Lace Agate:
Gemini spends a lot of time in their head, and Blue Lace Agate is beneficial for remembering the spiritual essence. This stone is highly attuned to the throat, heart, third eye and crown chakras. This is perfect for Gemini, as self-expression is the aim of the Gemini game.
Masters of integrating polarities and love without attachment, dualistic Gemini has the unique ability to perceive multiple perspectives at the same time. Blue Lace Agate balances yin-yang energy, and integrates one’s emotional and intellectual nature with their own etheric nature.
Crystal clear communication is paramount to Mercury-ruled Gemini. Blue Lace Agate assists in dissolving old patterns of repression and self-censorship, which eventually lead to throat chakra blockages and chest issues.
It is important for Gemini to heal wounds around judgment stemming from one’s relationship with their parents. It often is the case that addictions and oral fixations in adulthood stem from a childhood dynamic of not being heard and validated. If you’ve been holding back your feelings, Blue Lace Agate encourages clear self-expression.
After the Aries Ram and the Taurus Bull, the Gemini Twins are the first appearance of humanity in the zodiac. Represented by Ibeji, the twins, in African traditional religion, and by the mythological story of the Castor and Pollux constellations, Gemini’s unique disposition is one of inherently understanding partnership and connection.
We are each responsible for the energy we bring to our interactions with other human beings, so it’s important to seek, recognize and correct our inner deficiencies. Apophyllite amplifies the Gemini ability to connect in relationships by providing ample self-reflection and recognition of one’s own attitudes.
Again with the shadow integration, Apophyllite connects the physical and spiritual realms, and attunes one’s body to the higher dimensional self. This stone helps to facilitate astral travel and stimulate intuitive vision. Since Gemini is the messenger, working with apophyllite helps the native recognize and act upon truth in all situations.
How to Cleanse and Program Crystals
Crystals are largely comprised of silicon dioxide (SiO2), which is the material used in watches for timekeeping and silicon computer memory chips for storing large quantities of information. Thus, crystals are inherently programmable, and you can set your intentions for what you would like to work through with your stone.
Before working with any crystal, it’s a good practice to smudge (or energetically cleanse) the stone by passing it through the smoke of a purifying type of incense such as white sage, Palo Santo, or frankincense and myrrh. Just as white sage is used to bless and clear a new home, smudging crystals neutralizes any previous energetic imprints in the stone.
To program your crystal, sit upright comfortably with your stone in your left hand, and place your right hand over the crystal. Take three deep breaths with the intention of attuning with the crystal’s vibration, and state your intentions either in your head, or spoken aloud. Sample intentions are offered below.
Meditating with crystals during Gemini season can help us become more expressive and dilute any two-faced tendencies. Since we are more prone to flighty behavior during Gemini season, meditation and yoga are powerful tools that can help us channel excessive energy into something more productive. To make meditation a daily habit, start by spending five to ten minutes each morning focusing on your breath and working with these Gemini-themed intentions and affirmations for your meditation practice.
I recommend writing down the affirmations below with pen on paper, keeping them beside you as you meditate. Feel free to add your own Gemini themes as you see fit. If you find it challenging to quiet your thoughts as you sit in silence, there are many meditation apps available, such as the Calm app or Headspace. Or, you can search for crystal singing bowl meditation tones or binaural beats on YouTube such as these:

Gemini Season Rituals : Taurus Cinnamon Money Magnetism
Since Gemini energy is so mentally active, the best thing one can do is simply sit down for a moment and breathe.
While laying down, place a Blue Lace Agate near the throat chakra, and a piece of Apophyllite at the third eye chakra on your forehead in between your eyebrows. Breathe deeply, focusing on the inhales and exhales. Observe your thoughts and how the mind wanders, and return to focusing on your breathing. Even 10 minutes per day upon waking is helpful for integrating all of the crystal properties detailed above.
Both Blue Lace Agate and Apophyllite crystals are suitable to be ingested as Crystal Fire Water and Gem Elixirs. Find instructions for this here, and learn more about the benefits of Blue Lace Agate at my website Age of Eleven.
Writing down your inner thoughts is some of the best therapy for Gemini’s mental chatter. Taking five minutes each morning to journal about your dreams or simply write out your stream of consciousness thoughts helps one to clear the mind and start the day. My book, the Yoni Egg Shadow Integration Workbook, is a 28-day astrological guide through the womb wellness journey with plenty of journaling space and daily prompts for introspection and self-reflection.
As you move throughout your day during Gemini season, try to remember that you can compassionately empathize with other perspectives that are not always the same as your own. Remember the presence of your spiritual self, and know that you can always trust in the universe.
