Fill that quiver with arrows and fire away! The Sun spends its last week of 2014 in Sagittarius, a time meant for shooting from the hip, taking bold risks and racing straight for the target. Sagittarius is the zodiac’s traveler and ambassador so suitcase, please! Pre-holiday getaways are blessed by the Archer’s beams until this Sunday the 21st. Pull out your passport too and make sure it’s up to date. If international travel isn’t on the itinerary this week, you might at least commit to a future trip and book those tickets. And, uh, who ARE the people in your neighborhood anyway? Stretch outside your comfort zone and do some multicultural mingling. In the wake of November’s Ferguson, MO activism (which began just days after the Sun moved into Sagittarius on November 22) this would be a fine time to create and participate in community events and organizations that have a #cometogether message to share.
This “let’s change the world” vibe will be strong for other reasons too. On Monday, revolutionary Uranus in Aries forms an exact square (challenging 90 degree angle) to transformational Pluto in Capricorn. These two planets have been locked in this tricky dance since June 6, 2012. This is the sixth of seven such squares (the final one is from March 11-28, 2015) that are reshaping the world as we know it. But change does not come easy under this cosmic influence. Rash, futuristic Uranus in Aries stirs up anger and rebellion, bringing a “power to the people” groundswell. The real world news reporting from cell phone cameras and Twitter is certainly an example of this too. Controlling, secretive Pluto, however, is stationed in Capricorn, the sign of institutions and patriarchy. The tug of war between the progressives and the old guard could get rather intense on the world stage this week. On Sunday, December 21, el sol switches it up, moving into traditional, goal-oriented Capricorn until January 20, 2015. For the third month in a row, the Sun’s change of guard is accompanied by a new moon — a powerful way to announce its presence indeed! The Sun governs the self, identity and ego and shapes how we express ourselves in the world. In Capricorn it gives us a “high pro glow.” We want our most successful sides to shine and we are inspired to climb higher and higher towards our biggest goals. New moons herald fresh beginnings, so why wait until January 1 to make those resolutions? Sunday, December 21 is a potent day for visualizing success and mapping out the next steps of that journey. Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, Mercury heads into Capricorn until January 6 helping us keep our eyes and minds fixed firmly on the prize. Also on Sunday, Uranus snaps out of a five month retrograde that began July 21. Unconventional solutions to old problems will emerge and may even involve some fascinating new technology or scientific developments. What a week for progress! Anyone else feeling tired and wired just thinking about it?
