Reading time: just 10 minutes to win the month (but stay as long as you like!)
March 2021 Cancer Overview Horoscope
Early-spring optimism is in the air—or at least, it’s in the stars! March has a surprisingly ease-filled outlook for the most part. And with the Sun moving through Pisces and your expansive, worldly ninth house until March 20, your mind is consumed by big ideas.
The urge to travel could strike, and if you can find a way to safely do so, go ahead and roam away from home. If you’re not in the position to do that responsibly, there are plenty of ways to broaden your horizons through learning, exploring an indie business idea or planning an epic trip for later in the year when more people are vaccinated and it’s safer to venture out.
The one intense aspect that we’ll feel all month is a lingering 90-degree square as structured Saturn challenges disruptive Uranus. After making an exact gridlock on February 17, they’re moving apart, and will connect again on June 14 and December 24.
In the first few days of March especially, you could feel dueling urges for more privacy and new, inspiring friendships. With Saturn in your intimate eighth house, one part of you is tightening your inner circle, weeding out people who might be disruptive or draining. At the same time, you want to guard against being insular and overly controlling about who gets Crab shell access.
Friends and acquaintances who weigh in on your personal or financial affairs probably don’t know the whole story. But don’t shoot the messenger! In some cases, the person who delivers that bombshell insight can be your greatest awakener.
On March 20, the Sun moves into Aries, activating your tenth house of career and long-term goals. The nomadic energy of the past four weeks gets more serious, even businesslike. Call off the expedition for a month. Craft a few of your discoveries into a master plan. Get yourself anchored, and you’ll feel even more confident moving ahead on a clearly defined mission.
Week 1: March 1-7
Slow down for healing
Regulate your energy, Cancer! Since January 6, go-getter Mars has been blazing through Taurus and your eleventh house of group activity, adding steam to your team projects. You may have felt pressure to socialize, or perhaps you’ve gotten overwhelmed by a group project. It’s been a lot to take in for your sign: You love people, but you also need downtime to decompress between encounters.
This Wednesday, March 3, Mars moves into Gemini and your restful twelfth house, staying through April 23. For these next few weeks, you may have trouble sleeping and unwinding. The twelfth house rules the subconscious, and with anxious Mars activating this sector, your dreams could be the receptacle for any worries you’ve been sweeping under the rug.
Draw a cup of courage from Mars and do some forgiveness work or address a self-destructive pattern that’s been keeping you from moving forward. Reach out for support if you’re struggling, as Mars in this receptive sector can attract inspiring healers. It’s a great time to prioritize spiritual and artistic projects since your imagination will be particularly powered up.
Week 2: March 8-14
Come out and explore!
Cancers love their homes, but even you need to get out of your shell and commune with other creatures. Otherwise, you can start to feel like a bit of a shut-in, losing perspective and getting emotionally overwhelmed.
No matter how much you cherish your nest, this week’s cosmic lineup draws you gently and seductively out of isolation and into the wider world. Even if you’re not ready to commune safely, you can start thinking about those days in the not-too-distant future when you emerge from your cocoon and amaze everyone with the beautiful butterfly you’ve become. Where would you like to go when the world (or parts of it) safely open up again?
While it’s not quite yet time to make sudden moves, your visionary powers will get a major boost with the arrival of the intuitive Pisces new moon in your exploration zone on Saturday, March 13. This new moon is bolstered by the presence of magnetic Venus and imaginative Neptune, also both in Pisces, making you oh-so-receptive to fresh possibilities and perspectives.
Have you been toying with the idea of returning to school (as either student OR teacher), a long-delayed international trip or a groundbreaking entrepreneurial venture? Perhaps you’ve quietly been exploring your own artistic expression. Wherever your heart’s leading you, now’s the time to take the first tangible steps toward fulfilling your desires.
Whatever seeds you plant now will bear fruit over the next six months, culminating at the Pisces full moon on September 20. Whether it’s researching online courses, plotting out your big global marketing campaign or vision-boarding your dream vacation, the steps you take this week will set the stage for success.
With sometimes-deceptive Neptune and gullible Pisces in the mix, though, don’t let your dreams wander too far into unknown territory. Some offers are still too good to be 100 percent true, so make sure that the promise is actually delivered.
Week 3: March 15-21
Set your sights on success
This week, get ready to shift gears from blue-sky dreaming to master planning and implementation. The Sun is rounding out its visit to Pisces and your expansive, adventurous ninth house. For the past month, you’ve been downloading exciting new ideas and stretching out of your comfort zone. That’s always a good thing for you, Cancer!
But here’s the question: Do any of these grand visions have potential to become a solid business or venture? You’ll have a month to explore that starting Saturday, March 20, when the Sun shifts into Aries and activates your tenth house of career, success and long-term ambitions. Get ready to buckle down and make some power moves over the next four weeks. Narrow your focus on no more than three major goals and prioritize. Reverse-engineer them: Think of where you’d like to be in say, six months (or wherever the endpoint is) and work backward from there.
Good news: No need to be all work and no play though! On Sunday, March 21, social butterfly Venus will join the Sun in Aries, lending a gracious and garrulous touch to your ambitious tenth house. Invite a business contact for a Zoom coffee date or happy hours to catch up and explore opportunities in a low-pressure, friendly format.
Serendipity could intervene on Sunday, when Mars in your spiritual twelfth house forms a harmonious 120-degree trine with structured Saturn in Aquarius and your eighth house of wealth, joint ventures and power players. If you’re struggling, stop swimming upstream or trying to force an outcome. Instead, tune in to messages from your higher self with meditation, creative visualization or intention setting. The universe is your co-pilot now! Get clear about what you want, then relax your energetic field into a receptive, willing mode. Read your favorite “law of attraction” blog or book (we love Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks) to get yourself into this mindset.
At the Mars-Saturn trine, you may realize that a close person’s intentions are less than pure. Has there been a little bit of shady business or something in your dynamic that feels off? If you do confront this person, make sure you’re in a centered and mature place. Forthright Mars will give you the courage to be direct, but serious Saturn demands that you handle this like an adult, with a firm grip on your emotions. Don’t fling accusations. Consider this a fact-finding mission where you can get the real story. Maybe it’s just one big misunderstanding or an unspoken wound that’s been festering because it hasn’t been addressed. Focus on finding solutions rather than compounding the problem.
Week 4: March 22-28
Spotlight on home and family
Home sweet home! On Sunday, March 28, the year’s only full moon in beautifying Libra beams into your domestic fourth house—just in time for spring cleaning and much-needed rest after a busy month. Weather permitting, throw open the windows, roll up your sleeves and show your home some gratitude for the refuge it’s provided over the past year.
While you’re sprucing up, don’t forget to connect with your clan. If you’ve been pondering any new additions under your roof, from babies to roommates, this full moon could help you reach a decision. Thinking about moving or renovating? Plans you hatched in the past six months could manifest into reality. Look back to the October 16, 2020, Libra new moon for clues about what could transpire now. Whatever you do to make your home feel like more of a haven, you’ll be supported by Libra’s focus on balance, harmony and good taste.
Watch out, though, that career goals don’t collide with personal ones since this new moon will form a prickly opposition to harmonizer Venus in Aries and your professional tenth house.
You may be easily seduced into making plans or purchases now only to have major buyer’s remorse a day—or an hour—later. Before you open a line of credit for a new microfiber sofa or start painting your walls the Benjamin Moore “color of the year,” sleep on it! Family members are especially likely to push your guilt buttons in the days surrounding this full moon. Are you saying yes just to avoid conflict? That’s a recipe for resentment down the road.
Balancing your personal and professional affairs could be heavy on your mind this weekend. All oppositions create tension, but their polarizing energy can bring you to an important breaking point. Is it time to restructure your daily affairs or to reset loved one’s expectations, Cancer?
Luckily, a moon-Venus face-off can be more like a pillow fight than a serious bust-up. This one’s got a bit of extra sting though since Venus is in “detriment” in Aries, and its normal soothing powers are weakened. Be careful not to take out your work stress on family or your home tension on coworkers because making up will be harder to do under these tense beams.
