Horoscope:
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
August 2008
Are you taking care of yourself, Taurus? Is your house in order? On August 1, a total solar eclipse falls in your fourth house of home, family and foundations. This is the base of your chart upon which everything rests. Taurus, it’s time to get down to brass tacks and define your priorities—the ones that matter to YOU. Go back to your roots, boil it all down to the basics. It’s a year of innovation and big ideas. Now, make sure that everything you’re building rests on stable bearings.
This New Moon eclipse is in dramatic Leo, indicating a bold beginning. Are you ready to buy or sell a home, relocate, redecorate or start a family? Out of the blue it could happen. Your parents (especially your mother) or children figure into the equation. Have you been quietly going along with family members’ agenda in spite of objections—or flaunting your rebellion to spite them? Whatever the case, there’s something about your approach to family that needs to evolve, and it’s time to make a change. Assert yourself, Taurus, but bow out of drama if you can. There’s a new sheriff in town and it’s you.
The fourth house rules women, and a key female figure could enter the scene with this eclipse. This person will be very feminine and maternal. The other possibility is that your own “softer side” emerges, heralding a new chapter in your emotional life. Imagine: a gentler, more serene Taurus, instead of a charging Bull. Why not? You’re incredibly nurturing when you’re not acting all tough and bad-ass. Isn’t it time you hosted a dinner party, or created a feeling of family with everyone in your life? Allow your bonds to mature, and a new level of tenderness to show.
Romance could be a natural offshoot of this evolution. In fact, romance should be the overall spirit of your life, from the music you play to the clothes you choose to the loving care you put into preparing meals. That’s because five planets spin through Virgo this month, lighting up your fifth house of romance, wonder and play. A little drama and intrigue could go along with it. Or, it may be that you’ve got babies on the brain, since the fifth house also rules conception. You or a close family member could announce pregnancy news now.
On August 16, a second eclipse comes on the wings of the Aquarius Full Moon. This is a partial eclipse, indicating that a piece of a key venture could gel. This eclipse highlights your tenth house of career and structure. A business venture could solidify, or a phase of your career comes to fruition. You might give up a title you don’t want, even leave a demanding job to pursue something else or spend more time with your family. You might set up a home office or even put a downpayment toward a home of your own. An important male could be “eclipsed” out of your life or reshuffled into a less prominent role.
If possible, take a little trip around the eclipse. Romantic Venus in your ninth house of travel forms a lovely angle to Jupiter, making it a great time for a vacation romance. A sexy stranger from another culture or country could teach you a word or two in the international language of love. If you’re partnered up, a playful escape can lift some possible tension brewing in your love life. With stressful Mars squaring Pluto, old intimacy issues could flare up. Balancing private time and togetherness can be a little bit challenging. Someone could demand more of your resources than you have to give, or vice-versa. Call a truce, Taurus. Lighten the mood with a romantic getaway. Instead of fighting over the future, just enjoy the now. That’s all we really have anyway.
Indulge all you can, because on August 20, motivator Mars moves into your sixth house of health and fitness, staying until October 4. At last, you’re motivated to kick bad habits and get into fighting shape. If you’ve been trying to tone up or stick to a gym schedule (any schedule, really), you’ll have a little cosmic support. Taurus, you’re ready to get your edge back.
On August 23, rebel Uranus opposite Venus also coughs up a few unhealthy dating habits. Stay out of the dark side, Taurus. Escaping into co-dependence, giving more than you can, even partying too hard will only leave you paying the price. Conserve your resources and do a few “well-being” checks. If you feel adrenaline or tension in your body, it’s a signal that you need to pause and take a big step back.
The rest of the month should be spent streamlining your priorities, getting organized, setting up a file system, upgrading software, and working out any chance you get. The sixth house also rules pets. If you’ve got a furry friend, use him as a good excuse to stick to a routine. Train him or teach him a few new tricks as you learn a few yourself. Taurus, you’re an old dog, too, a creature of habit. So make sure you add some healthy new ones to your arsenal!
