Finding a Universal Year in Numerology is simple. You add up all the digits in the year like so, until you arrive at a number between 1 and 9. For 2022, it’s like so:
2 + 0 + 2 + 2 = 6
And that’s why 2022 is a 6 Universal Year.

What we’re leaving behind: The frantic 5 Year of 2021
Last year (2021) was a 5 Universal Year, which was colorful, frenzied and all about freedom. The 5 Year demanded that we:
- Investigate where we did and did not feel a sense of freedom
- Rein in our escapist and avoidant tendencies
- Focus on the longer game rather than instant gratification
- Tap into our sensual sides
- Face our fears and begin to dismantle them
- Open up to change on every level
2022: Intensified by the “0” and repeating “2”
This sequence of numbers contains added resonance because it’s comprised of repeating 2’s, accentuated by the 0.
So while 2022 is a 6 Universal Year, it carries a strong “2” resonance.
The energy of the 2 is all about patience, partnership and diplomacy. This peacekeeping number is highly sensitive and in tune with other people’s emotional landscapes.

When you look at the number 6, it resembles a little pregnant belly. The 6 year is truly pregnant with possibilities when the focus is on visionary plans, service to others and justice for all.
Since service is a key theme now, get ready to ramp up your caretaking and protective efforts. In the personal sphere, this might mean beautifying your surroundings and strengthening bonds. Globally, this could spotlight issues such as mitigating the climate crisis. Perhaps we’ll enter our post-pandemic world with fresh resolve to make a difference and take accountability.
The path forward globally resides in working with, not against. The 2 always seeks the diplomatic solution and takes the wants and needs of all into account—which means that every group must commit to a “give” for equitable solutions. 2022 is not a “winner takes all” year.

How to Make the Most of the 6 Universal Year
1. Be of service.
The nurturing 6 isn’t fully activated unless it’s offering support and directing its energies toward the greater good. In 2022, focus on justice and impact investment. But make sure to balance those selfless acts with self-care!
2. Follow through on obligations.
The 6 Universal Year asks us to step up to responsibilities and make good on our noble commitments. We’ll need to walk our talk beyond social media and put activism into action.
3. Accept the perfection of the imperfection.
The shadow traits of the 6 Year can be impossible standards and unyielding judgment. This cycle reveals where we hold our loftiest and perhaps most illogical expectations of the world and the people around us. Where do we insert over-the-top idealism and rigid rules? Remember the adage “progress, not perfection” in 2022.
When working with the energy of the 6, keep in mind that there are many ways to resolve issues or mediate conflicts that don’t shut down one group or another. Remain open and allow events to play out differently than you think they should.
4. Lead with love.
The 6 puts the focus on family. Globally, this is being built from the ground up. In the late 1980s, Albert Einstein’s daughter Lieserl donated letters her father had written during his lifetime. Among them was a letter that offered these thoughts:

5. Support versus enable.
One of the key challenges of the 6 Universal Year energy is the delicate balance between supporting and enabling. This year challenges us to offer support while not being in everyone else’s business. Tricky stuff! At times, we’ll have to allow others to stumble; to witness them struggling as they figure out a solution without judging their pace or methods.
6. But first, dinner!
The 6 Universal Year is saturated in the desire for nourishment. How do we feed and nurture our bodies, minds and spirits? How do we fuel and nourish our economies in a way that isn’t just a “fad diet?” Or a Band-Aid solution that functions for a couple weeks but can’t possibly be sustained long-term?
If we can stave off the desire to control all outcomes, the 6 Universal Year offers a lot of opportunities for connection and renewed relationships.
This is a year to keep our promises. Reach out and support others on a grand scale. Sacrifice a bit of personal gratification in order to put the needs of “family” and “community” first.
