VIDEO: Kabbalistic Astrology of the Leo New Moon

Watch our talk with Kabbalistic astrologer Rachel Schwartz about tapping the powerful energy of the July 23 Leo new moon.

Kabbalah is an ancient wisdom that reveals how the universe and life work. Its teachings, which include astrology, show us how to gain fulfillment through practical actions and conscious living. In this video, Ophi talks to Kabbalistic astrologer Rachel Schwartz (love her dazzling Leo smile!) for a fascinating mystical interpretation of the Leo new moon.

For many years, we’ve been inspired by the concept of being “lightworkers.” We first learned about it when we started seeing 11:11 on the clock constantly, and were compelled to investigate. Our explorations led us to Kabbalah, which uses “the light” as a way of describing the creator, or creative force in the universe. When we found out that Kabbalah also teaches astrology—honing in on one of our favorite chart features, the north and south nodes—we dove in for more.

The word Kabbalah means “to receive” in Hebrew. It’s the study of how to receive fulfillment in our lives. Kabbalah asks us: How can we connect to the universe’s core energy, then use that connection to spread light to others?

While the concepts of Kabbalah are deep, the principles are presented as practical actions you can take on a daily basis. Maybe it’s our Capricorn rising sign, but to us, it just makes sense! (Even Ophi’s skeptical Taurus engineer husband grasps it without a single #eyeroll.)

This real-world take on spirituality aligns perfectly with Astrostyle’s approach to astrology, where we aim to “bring the stars down to earth” and write horoscopes that you can actually apply to your life NOW.

And Kabbalistic astrology deepens our understanding of WHY humanity is divided into 12 signs, each with a specific assignment on this planet. There are mystical secrets, too. Did you know that Leo is one of the three “negative months” of the year? (The other two are Cancer and Capricorn.) That doesn’t mean it’s bad, though. It means there’s an absence of shekinah, or the feminine principle, so the energy is harsher and less compassionate during these seasons.

At the Leo new moon and during Leo season, we must work harder to be loving and empathic with others. Rachel and Ophi discuss this—and lots more—in the video above. (P.S. Sorry the video is a teensy bit blurry—working on my #cameraskillz—but hey, it kind of adds a little ethereal vibe, no?)

We hope you enjoy the first of many talks with Kabbalistic astrologer Rachel Schwartz, taking you even deeper into the practical and positive ways you can use astrology in your life.
