Taurus New Moon Rituals

1. Make a “micro-resolution”

Persistent, consistent Taurus is a creature of habit. While this can make us wonderfully tenacious, it can also reveal where we’re stuck in a rut. According to the book, Small Move, Big Change, making “micro-resolutions”—instead of sweeping promises that quickly lose steam—can actually create lasting shifts.

For example, rather than vow to get into killer shape for summer, create the micro-resolution of packing your sneakers in your bag, or walking around the block after dinner every evening. The seismic shift is caused by making one small effort, then building on that, which creates a snowball effect in the long run.

James Clear’s bestseller Atomic Habits is another manual for “tiny changes, remarkable results” that lines up with the slow and steady progress this new moon calls for.

2. Give your throat chakra a tune-up

If you’ve been suppressing your voice, lift the gag order for this Taurus new moon ritual. As the zodiac sign that rules the throat—and the throat chakra, Taurus encourages you to vocalize your values. A balanced throat chakra allows you to clearly express your truths and live from a place of free will and creativity.

Chanting—which involves repeating a phrase or mantra with conscious breathwork—is both soothing and energizing; it can boost immunity and reduce anxiety and depression. Many yoga and meditation studios offer online (and live) sessions. Grab your mat, get into the lotus position and open up that passageway with some “om namah shivayas.” Humming can also create a meditative and soothing vibration that energizes the body. You might stream a sound healing since specific tones are believed to heal and help forward intentions.

P.S. Blue is the color associated with the throat chakra. If you want to work with crystals and gemstones to activate or heal yours, try these: sodalite, moonstone, aquamarine, turquoise,  sapphire, kyanite, our 2024 Crystal of the Year!

3. Belt out a ballad!

If crystals aren’t your thing, here’s a more earthbound Taurus new moon ritual: set up a home karaoke system or go for a private drive in your car to belt out some songs. As you breathe deeply, prepare to unleash your favorite power ballad. You’re giving your lungs a workout and freeing up that throat chakra, producing many of the same results as chanting. Who cares if you can’t keep a tune? You might actually learn to hit those notes with some practice.

4. Put your money where your morals are

As a material-minded earth sign, Taurus puts the focus on both our valuables and our personal values. How many mindless splurges could be funneled toward a more meaningful investment, like a retirement fund or a special account for a niece’s future college tuition. Instead of giving lip service to a cause for your Taurus new moon ritual, make a donation or start a fundraiser. Money talks!

5. Invest in practical luxury

Ruled by sensual, decadent Venus, Taurus also loves life’s finer things. Bespoke and handmade goods have a special quality to them and when they double as practical objects that you’ll use (and love!) on a daily basis, it’s a lot easier to justify the expense. You might invest in something unique near this new moon. The craftsmanship that goes into their creation is human potential at its finest—the living result of some divinely inspired mastermind at work.

Work within your budget for this Taurus new moon ritual. Try a new recipe using one high-end ingredient like truffle oil or saffron. If you have the means, this could be your cue to splurge on a signature piece, like an artfully crafted handbag or an incredible kitchen tool.

6. Flex your green thumb

While the gleaming produce displays at Whole Foods are full-on eye candy, most of us have little clue what it took to harvest those luscious and edible jewels. And while it’s great to buy organic, some of us may be far removed from the idea of sticking our hands in the pesticide-free soil, planting heirloom seeds, watering the crop, and nurturing it to full harvest.

Whether you have sun-drenched acres at your disposal or just a tiny kitchen windowsill, plant what you can, be it a giant bed of Swiss chard or a pot of rosemary. We love the book, The Dirt Cure, by Dr. Maya Shetreat-Klein for ideas on connecting with the source of your food.

Growing food is an offering of gratitude to Mother Earth for filling our plates each day. Planting in her soil is an act of abundance—no matter if your efforts yield a bumper crop or a few misshapen (but delicious) sprouts. 7. Or…plant a wish garden

Connecting to nature keeps us in tune with the force that created us. With decadent Venus as the guardian of this earth sign, we can celebrate beauty in its most natural forms with a wish garden.

Find a spot for your wish garden

Choose a spot in your yard or get a pot for a houseplant or a window container. Be sure your growing space is larger than the plant you choose, so it has room to grow. Try selecting a varietal that will live until the corresponding full moon in Taurus in the fall (or longer!).

Choosing what to plant

A succulent or cactus that doesn’t need much tending to is a good choice if you feel challenged in the green thumb department. Air plants are also an option, as they require no soil and infrequent watering. But given Taurus’ down-and-dirty nature, we recommend using soil for this project.

Write a wish list on a small piece of paper. For example: What are 5 things you would like to manifest before the Taurus full moon in six months?

How to plant

Sprinkle soil at the base of the pot, enough to cover it and create a small layer. If you’re planting outdoors, dig a hole. Place your wish list here. Layer more soil on top of the list—filling the pot or the hole about one-third of the way. Our dad, Shimon, a retired landscaper (and a Sag like us!), recommends watering this soil and adding organic fertilizer to strengthen the plant’s roots.

Place the plant inside, ensuring that the roots are covered well with soil. Water again so the soil is fully moistened. If there is room (and we recommend leaving some), place crystals in the soil to charge the plant and make your wish garden sparkle. Tend to it regularly, as a symbolic way of bringing your wishes into form.
