Sagittarius Season Crystals Horoscope

Spiritually savvy Gemini Chartreuse Tembo Barriere—who is the founder and headMIZtress of The Venus Academy —selects the most powerful stones for the solar season. She teaches us how to use crystals in meditation to stay aligned with the energy of both the heavens and the Earth.

Pyrite and Lapis Lazuli and black obsidian are two gemstones for your Sagittarius season crystal horoscope. Working with these stones helps you tap into the Archer’s expansive and abundant energy.

Pyrite and Lapis Lazuli are the two crystals for Sagittarius season I recommend for those with strong Sagittarius or Jupiter influence in their natal charts, and for those who want to tap into Sagittarian energy any time of year. Both of these crystals are of the cubic molecular structure. As the shape suggests, cubic crystals provide structure and organization while promoting creativity and clarity. They are of tertiary, or metamorphic mineral, formation (my favorite process: transformation under extreme pressure!).

Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the zodiac wheel; opposite to Gemini, the third sign. Opposing signs can pertain to the same relative areas of life but from different approaches. The Sagittarius-Gemini opposition is the “axis of the mind.” Sag takes Gem’s exploration and info-gathering and expands on it, implementing ideas and perfecting theories in practice. Physiologically, Sagittarius is associated with the hips and with the liver.

The zodiac glyph for Sagittarius depicts an arrow aiming higher. The sign is represented by the half human, half animal centaur, which combines our basic animal instincts with activating the “god” consciousness in you.

What These Sagittarius Season Crystals Represent:

Pyrite: Invokes feelings of cheer; stimulates digestive and immune systems; helps you to see the big picture

Lapis Lazuli: Encourages self-awareness and expression; activates the body’s elimination processes

About the Sagittarius Season Crystals

Pyrite:

Yellow and gold-colored minerals bring brightness into our lives, just like the Sun. Pyrite provides an enlivening, cheering effect when placed in a room or worn as jewelry.

Pyrite

Fiery pyrite improves the supply of energy to the body and the nerves that control the inner organs. This mineral also stimulates the activity of the digestive and immune systems. Sagittarius rules the liver and hips, and as and the winter (and holiday) season can challenge healthy habits, working with this stone during is great for purification and detoxification.

Pyrite’s fiery, energetic nature helps you overcome depression and boost confidence, important to strive for now as winter begins to arrive into the northern hemisphere. Physically, pyrite also can bring a surge of energy to recognizing the underlying causes of disease. The metallic brightness of the mineral, especially when pyrite is in sunburst form, has a pain-alleviating effect—particularly when laid on the lower abdomen near your liver during meditation.

As mentioned, pyrite’s mineral formation is of the cubic molecular structure. Like square building blocks, all cubic minerals are useful for structure and building, both metaphysically and in the tangible world. On a mental level, pyrite clarifies the causes of life’s circumstances and helps you to see the bigger (brighter) picture. Working with pyrite helps you develop spiritual maturity as you decode the meaning of your existence.

Pyrite’s Metaphysical Properties:

Pyrite is naturally associated with the element of fire. Its name means “fire stone;” it creates sparks when struck and was supposedly used to create fires in the Stone Ages. Sagittarius’s mutable energy is about transforming, so Sag is the embodiment of transformation through fire, or alchemy.

Alchemy is the ancient practice of transmuting lower dross metals into gold, but metaphysically and practically, alchemy is simply about making the best of your situation, whatever it is. Pyrite is colloquially known as “fool’s gold,” because it looks similar, but is much more brittle and has a cubic molecular structure.

About Lapis Lazuli:

Lapis Lazuli is a cubic, tertiary mineral, formed during the metamorphosis of chalk into marble. When iron is present during the transformation process, gold-colored pyrite inclusions occur. Its name comes from the Persian word “lazur,” which translates to “blue stone.” In ancient Africa and the Mesopotamia region, lapis was the “stone of rulers” and used for metaphysical ritual purposes. It was even crushed to make blue eye makeup.

Lapis Lazuli

Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign, and its energy is powerful. Working with this blue mineral imparts a necessary cooling, calming effect. Since Sagittarius rules the liver, Lapis Lazuli is beneficial as it helps regulate the balance of liquids, hormones, pH levels, and mineral-forming elements in the body. Blue minerals help activate elimination and the movement of bodily fluids, a major function of the liver. And while Lapis helps facilitate a natural balanced flow, the mineral itself contains gold-flecks of Pyrite, incorporating the Sagittarius fire.

Lapis Lazuli’s Metaphysical Properties:

As a cubic stone, Lapis Lazuli helps you see life patterns as part of a higher structure, exactly what Sagittarius does when it integrates Gemini duality into a unified bigger picture. Sagittarius wants to take us to the highest heights. Its place is at the top of the zodiac wheel in the 9th house, right before we activate our midheaven/10th house of public platforms and careers.

Lapis lazuli is the stone of royalty, and there’s nothing like the archetype of monarchy to symbolize being on top. Sagittarius and its Jupiter-ruled energy desire that you expand and liberate yourself, and Lapis Lazuli does just that. It helps you to be the ruler of your own spiritual kingdom, and is the stone of friendship, wisdom and honesty. It encourages self-awareness, and helps you to face hard truths while also expressing your opinions.

The beautiful blue Lapis Lazuli encourages striving for knowledge and the search for truth, which is the Sagittarian way. On the mental plane, Lapis Lazuli accelerates instinctive reactions, keeps things moving forward, and helps you to overcome fear and have courage (this resonates strongly with the true, mutable function of transformative Sagittarius energy).

Meditation, Intentions, and Affirmations with Sagittarius Season Crystals

Meditating with these crystals for Sagittarius season can help amplify your intentions. We could all use some lifting from the depths after journeying through the underworld during Scorpio season.

Meditating with crystals for Sagittarius season can help us stoke the flames of your deepest desires and move confidently in the direction of your dreams. To make meditation a daily habit, start by spending five to ten minutes each morning focusing on your breath and working with these Sagittarius-themed intentions and affirmations for your meditation practice.

Pyrite Meditation:

Sagittarius encompasses the quest for higher truth. On an emotional level, Pyrite uncovers your secrets and subconscious memories that may be suppressed. Sag natives are some of the most truthful, sharp-shooting purveyors of that honesty, and working concertedly with Pyrite provides an opportunity for more openness and bigger-picture truthfulness. Pyrite encourages self-realization and the dismantling of illusions, just as the Archer desires. This mystical stone confronts your character so you can see, without judgment, the beneficial and detrimental sides of yourself.

Meditation Intention with your crystals for Sagittarius season: May I spark my next level of transformation and forge through the fire.

Affirmations:

  • I am the light of the world.
  • I activate my regeneration.
  • I aim toward seeing higher truth.
  • I observe the power of self-awareness.
  • I ascend to spiritual maturity and healing.
  • I trust each experience is for my highest good.

Meditation Exercise: Golden Flame

Meditate with a single candle, as small as a tea light or as large as a 7-day candle (so long as you have a flame). Sit upright in front of the candle flame (even better if you can place it at eye-level).

Hold your Pyrite in your left hand and a piece of clear quartz crystal in your right hand for stabilization. Gaze directly at the candle flame and breathe slowly and deeply for five counts. Feel the vibration of light emanating from the Pyrite, into your hands and energizing every cell in your body. Envision the light vibration expanding from your sacral chakra in your lower abdomen, extending out to your auric field and beyond, creating a force field all around you.

Continue deep breathing and gazing at the candle, looking into and beyond the flame and allowing the fire elemental spirit to commune with you.

Repeat this meditation nightly, or whenever intuitively desired, for ten minutes or more.

Lapis Lazuli Meditation:

Lapis Lazuli resonates with the throat chakra of clear self-expression. Its healing properties are also Sagittarian, in that it can assist in problems with the neck, larynx and vocal chords, particularly if those issues stem from suppressing emotions or repressing anger.

Physically, Lapis Lazuli is also said to physically lower blood pressure when used continuously in meditation, and regulate the thyroid and the menstrual cycle. As always, the work must be consistent and your introspection must be thorough.

Meditation Intention with your crystals for Sagittarius season: May I perceive my true essence to be one with higher universal truth.

Affirmations:

  • I see the bigger picture.
  • I am worthy because I exist.
  • I perceive with the mind of the divine.
  • I am at one with the universe.
  • I decode beyond the veil of binary limitations.
  • I activate and practice my gifts in service to the world.

Meditation Exercise: Mindfulness Meditation

Mutable fire transforms the hardest dross minerals into gold, but not before putting the subject through extreme pressure and causing it to undergo severe testing. This is the alchemical process.

On its quest for higher truth, Sagittarius pertains to long journeys and wandering. As the opposite sign to butterfly Gemini, Sagittarius is the bird’s eye. Dualistic Gemini Twins see both sides of any situation, integrative Sagittarius—half-human, half horse, finds the unifying thread and helps you recognize the ONEness in everyday life.

To harness the Centaur’s mutable magic, practice mindfulness meditation during Sagittarius season. Mindfulness meditation is simply the art of observing your wandering thoughts as they float through your mind. The ego, which is the aspect of you that perceives separation, has a tendency to judge things, people, or occurrences as good/bad, right/wrong, better/worse. That Gemini polarity is exactly the type of mental construct that Sagittarius is able to synthesize on the axis of your mind.

As you move throughout your day, any time you want to tap into Sagittarius energy, make a concerted effort to not judge any experiences or presentations as “good” or “bad” but try to simply acknowledge them just as they are. Life is not “either/or,” it’s “both/and.” Everything is possible!
