Supercouple: A Fresh Take on Relationship Astrology, by The AstroTwins

There’s my zodiac sign and your zodiac sign—and together we make…a Supercouple! The composite chart is the astrology chart of your relationship. What’s your Supercouple sign and how can it help you find a new path to compatibility?

Supercouple is a new book by The AstroTwins that deep-dives into relationship astrology using composite “Supercouple” charts.

The Supercouple chart takes the midpoint of planets in two charts to create a third chart. Think: your chart + someone else’s chart = your Supercouple chart!

Supercouple‘s relationship astrology system replaces well-worn solutions to dating and relating in the modern age. Instead of a one-size-fits-all technique, your Supercouple chart gives you access to a third, neutral space, a higher octave for your relationship to reach.

Why do we need a new relationship system? Well, in modern relationships, many people stumble into these issues:
1. Compromise doesn’t work
2. Personal growth and relationships don’t always sync
3. Our antiquated relationship model doesn’t fit or support the way people connect in the modern world

“The traditional relationship model is outdated,” says Ophira Edut, one half of The AstroTwins, the astrologers for Elle magazine and the Prime Video series Cosmic Love. She explains that we are all using an “Agrarian Age” model, a 6500-year-old system born from when marriage was a practical need for survival, rooted in ideas of property and inheritance. Supercouple is an “Aquarian Age” system, answering today’s needs for individual expression and emotional companionship, created for a world where relationships are about choice.

Tali Edut, Ophira’s twin sister and the other half of The AstroTwins, says Supercouple answers “What does our relationship need?” While the needs of each individual must be taken into account, couples often overlook the relational realm. With Supercouple it’s, “Not me. Not You. But, we.”

How Supercouple relationship astrology works

The Supercouple chart is called the composite chart in astrology. It’s the go-to for The AstroTwins who have used it with celebrity clients, including Beyoncé, who got her first astrology reading from Tali and Ophi at the Billboard Music Awards in 2003, the year she began seriously dating Jay-Z!

A Supercouple chart combines your birth chart with another person’s birth chart to create a new, third, blended Supercouple (composite) chart.

The Supercouple chart finds the exact midpoint of all the planets in two charts. What’s the midpoint of my moon sign and your moon sign? My Venus sign and your Venus sign? My nodes and your nodes?

“Rather than focusing on each individual, this system is about creating a third separate chart,” Ophi says. “We gave it the name ‘Supercouple‘ because there’s a new entity that gets created.”

“In astrology, we do a lot of work in the individual realm,” Ophi explains. “We have so much focus on our own personal growth, which is great, but that’s taken a back seat to how we blend with others in relationships.

“Supercouple is a neutral, third space,” Ophi says. “A new map for your relationship. It takes the power struggle out of me vs. you.”

Think about it. Have you ever said: “I can’t date a (insert zodiac sign)?” Supercouple goes deep and you may discover you can be compatible with star signs you previously crossed off the list.

Note: The Supercouple (composite) chart is different than a synastry chart which is a side-by-side comparison of two charts. And for the astrogeeks out there, The AstroTwins use the midpoint method for Supercouple, not the Davison method.

Supercouple isn’t just for romantic partners

The Supercouple relationship astrology system is helpful to learn about how you blend with who you’re dating (or want to be dating) or who you’re married to. It’s also good for you and your boss, your colleague, a sister, a brother, your mom, your child—anyone! We recommend running Supercouple charts on your exes for insight into past relationship challenges and the lessons each connection taught you!

How to do a Supercouple composite chart

Zodiac compatibility calculators are common for matching signs (we use them, too!), but Supercoupling goes beyond zodiac sign trait compatibility (and the aspects or distance between signs in the zodiac used to predict compatibility in a synastry chart) to help you navigate your relationship from a refreshing new, power couple viewpoint.

Reading a Supercouple chart and decoding your relationship astrology

Once you have created a Supercouple composite chart, there are two ways you can read it to understand your relationship astrology: the full Supercouple chart wheel, or, if that’s too advanced, the calculator breaks down your Supercouple chart details into easy-to-read columns.

“Everyone is at different levels of knowledge of charts and astrology,” Ophi says. “This book is for all levels.”

The astrology elements: fire, earth, air, water

It’s helpful to know the elements of astrology when reading your Supercouple chart. Match your Supercouple sign to an element below (all the zodiac signs are divided into an element: fire, earth, air, water). Then read on for how the elements reveal your relationship strengths, by planet.

For example: One person may have their Sun independent fire sign with a partner who’s Sun is in an air sign. On their own, they may be commitment-shy, but they blend together as a stable Supercouple earth sign and suddenly, they’re packing up their downtown studios and moving to the suburbs to start a family.

Each planet in the Supercouple chart represents a different aspect of your relationship. The rest of this article explains how to translate your Supercouple chart by zodiac element and planet (we start you off with a few, the rest are in the Supercouple book!)

The four elements of astrology, their zodiac signs, and key traits:

Fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

If you want to spark things up, the fire element signs ignite the action. These excitable, creative and visionary zodiac signs jump right in and play instead of waiting for permission or worrying terribly about making a mistake. They know that every ember has the potential to be a roaring pyre.

Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

If you want to get solid on any aspect of your life, the earth element signs help you plant the deep roots needed for long-term growth. These thoughtful, pragmatic signs inspire action that’s based in core values. When you’re on familiar ground, you can relax and think through important life decisions.

Air signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

If you want to get things moving, the air element signs act as the “winds of change.” These mobile, intellectual signs inspire action, innovation and out-of-the-box ideas. When a strong gust hits you, you can’t help but move.

Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

If you want to ease into the flow of life instead of swimming upstream, the water element signs act as a powerful current. These tuned-in, emotionally savvy signs remind you of the power of empathy and intimate connection. When a giant wave rolls in, you can’t help but be swept along.
