Truly, summer 2026 was an unpredictable one. On June 29, Jupiter moved into Leo for the first time since 2014, ramping up emotions in an already heated Fire Horse year. Wounded healer Chiron entered earth sign Taurus on June 19, its first visit since 1984, bringing a wave of food recalls (hold the lettuce, thanks), devastating wildfires and brutal power outages in places like Gary, Indiana and Memphis.

The karmic lunar nodes wrapped their 18-month stint in Pisces and Virgo on July 26 and began a new cycle in Aquarius and Leo, amplifying the perilous state of the AI bubble and portending what we’ve named The Great Compression.

So…Virgo. We welcome this sign’s love of simplicity, fact-finding and accountability. Not to mention health and science! As we step into fall 2026, the environment has taken a huge toll, communities have been blighted by data centers and surveillance, and the idea of “steak and a salad” conjures an ominous picture of mystery meat and digestive distress. We knew the Fire Horse year would be one for the books, and we haven’t gotten a break from its flaming stampede.

By coincidence, September 10 seems to have been chosen by the planets as THE day to make their moves. On the calendar: Mercury moves into Libra, Venus enters Scorpio, Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini. It all happens under a Virgo new moon, which is also competing for the celestial spotlight on the 10th.

Venus retrograde is coming!

Speaking of Venus, the planet of love, peace and harmony is pre-gaming its upcoming Venus retrograde, which will happen from October 3 to November 13. Yes, we regret to inform any romantic hopefuls out there that Cuffing Season will be interrupted with this once-every-18-months backspin. Midterm elections in the United States (November 3) and Knesset elections in Israel (October 27) will also happen during Venus retrograde.

All the more reason to get proactive this month. If a relationship is on shaky territory or negotiations need to be wrapped up, do the work in September before Venus goes rogue, along with people’s goodwill and kindness. (Or what’s left of it!)

Chiron, which has been retrograde in Taurus since August 3, will back into Aries on September 17 for a final lap, ending April 2027. Chiron started its journey through Aries in 2018, but briefly departed in June. Now, we have one more bit of collective healing to do around Aries themes, which include war, how we manage anger and aggression, and individuality. Cleaning up our own sides of the street before villainizing others will be important in the next few months.

On September 22, Libra season begins, ushered in by the autumn equinox. The official start to fall is perfect for extending olive branches, signing contracts and doing relationship repair. Think of Venus retrograde as a large tax bill that takes a hit on your emotional bank account. If you put extra savings in there, you won’t feel the hit as much. If it’s already empty, Venus retrograde can cause an overdraft.
