Rethink any big purchases (especially electronics) and hold off a couple more weeks if you can.
Friction can arise with colleagues and clients, so be proactive. Make sure everyone feels clear on expectations and costs. Are there unclear payment terms, delayed invoices? Are you feeling under- or over-compensated for your efforts? Be direct but diplomatic about it, giving people the benefit of the doubt before you fling any accusations. That check might REALLY be “lost in the mail” this time.
