The 2024 Aries New Moon Is A Supermoon And Total Solar Eclipse (OMFG)

Slip on your eclipse glasses! Your springtime reset begins with the Aries new moon (at 2:21 PM EDT on April 8) and total solar eclipse. Here’s how to initiate new ideas and navigate the curveballs this “moon moment” could hurl your way.

The April 8 Aries new moon is the annual “reset” button in astrology, but this year it pack some extra punch.

It’s also a sky-darkening total solar eclipse, which will be visible across much of the United States, including some regions that are the path of totality. This new moon is also a supermoon, arriving at the closest possible distance to Earth and making its tide-shifting presence felt.

But wait, there’s more!

The Aries new moon also happens to arrive at a close degree to Mercury retrograde in Aries (April 1-25). Mercury retrogrades are known for jamming up communication signals and forcing us to deal with unfinished business.

Yes, this could all be as chaotic as it sounds. But stay with us…

What to Expect at the April 8 Aries New Moon

Buckle up! Developments may arrive at such a fast-and-furious pace that you wind up disoriented. That doesn’t mean these are to be feared. An opportunity that “vanished” in the past may come back around as a second offer.

Simultaneously, something quite old could feel new again, beckoning you to give it a second chance.

The turbo-charged fresh start this new moon brings might require you to leave a piece of your old life behind. (Ah, the bittersweet side effect of a game-changing eclipse.) If you know it’s time to let go, start mapping out a gentle exit strategy—but not so gentle that you get stuck, spinning your wheels in the same rut.
