Expect a rush of momentum this March 29 when the annual Aries new moon arrives as a partial solar eclipse and supermoon (6:58 AM EDT; 9º00’). Here’s everything you need to know, plus your horoscope!
Rapid developments and surprising plot twists are what you can expect at the March 29 Aries new moon and solar eclipse.
Not only is the March 2025 Aries new moon a partial solar eclipse and a supermoon, it sits at a friendly angle to expansive Jupiter and powerhouse Pluto. Efforts you begin under this Aries new moon could send you soaring onto a bigger stage and attract VIP-level support. With transformational Pluto in the mix, parts of your former self may be left behind, paving the way for an unscripted chapter to emerge.
The upside? Some of the challenges thrown your way may serve you, even if you can’t see the blessing in disguise immediately. Eclipses interrupt the status quo, forcing overdue changes that you’ve been resisting.
This eclipse is also the third (and final) in a series that began in the spring of 2023. What will you tie a bow on? Personal projects that have been underway over the past couple years could come to a dramatic finale.
Since this is a new moon, results may take up to six months to manifest. Initiatives you begin with the March 2025 Aries new moon may not be ready to harvest until the October 6 Aries full moon. In the meanwhile, ask yourself: How can I transform my passions into tangible outcomes? This lunation brings a rare opportunity to harness some fiery energy to shape your future. Make it count!

Retrogrades record-scratch (and more astrology incoming)
Reminder: We’re still in the first Mercury retrograde of the year AND a Venus retrograde—both of which flash the caution light. Although you may leap into a groundbreaking project with both feet, make sure you set up a safety net!
Mercury’s backspin switches signs on the same day as the March 29 Aries new moon and eclipse, retreating from fiery Aries to dreamy Pisces (where it stays for the remainder of its retrograde, until April 7).
And the day after the Aries new moon, on March 30, for the first time in our lifetimes a Neptune in Aries transit begins a 14-year cycle of putting our dreams into action.
To say the March 2025 eclipse presents you with an opportunity for change is sort of an understatement!
Still have your eclipse glasses?
Last spring, we were all talking about the April 8 Aries new moon total solar eclipse. You probably still have the safety eyewear and hopefully no memory of your EV running out of battery on the way home from an eclipse vacation.
Last year’s eclipse was a rare, sky-darkening total solar eclipse, visible across much of the United States, including some regions that were in the path of totality. This year’s partial solar eclipse is expected to be visible for some, at sunrise, with the moon blocking up to 93% of the Sun. Glasses are still recommended if you want to view the phenomenon.
This year’s Aries new moon moment is again a supermoon (one of the five 2025 Supermoons), arriving at the closest possible distance to earth and making its tide-shifting presence felt.
Unpack the power of the Aries new moon (some tips!)
Developments may arrive at a fast-and-furious pace at the Aries new moon, resulting in some disoriented feelings. But don’t freak out! An opportunity that “vanished” in the past may come back around as a second offer. At the same time, something quite old could feel new again, beckoning you to give it a second chance.
If you feel more confused than clear:
- Don’t act out of fear or impatience. It might take the full six months—until the corresponding Aries full moon on October 6— to determine the best way forward.
- Pump the brakes on people-pleasing. Recommit to living life by your own design. Not sure what that looks like? Here’s your cue to start figuring out what it really means to “do you.”
- Test your ideas. See what kind of response you get from the public. Concept testing can bring all kinds of breakthrough ideas at the Aries new moon.
