Transiting planets in astrology

Each of the planets orbit (transits) around at the Sun at a different speed. Planets can move quickly or slowly through the zodiac signs. Each has its own “energy” depending on where it is in the zodiac. A planet’s journeys through the zodiac can affect you short- or long-term.

The inner planets—SunmoonMercuryMars and Venus—move quickly through the zodiac. As a result, they affect your day-to-day life, moods and habits. And you’ll notice the Sun and moon are included among the planets in astrology.

The outer planets—Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto—are farther from the Sun and therefore move more slowly through the zodiac than the inner planets. Because the outer planets can take years to tour a single zodiac sign, they shape the bigger trends in your life and are said to shape entire generations.

Where are the planets right now? Zodiac signs and dates for all current astrology transits.

Below are all the planets in astrology and where they are currently transiting the zodiac, including transit dates.

Where is the Sun right now?

We are in Taurus season right now, from April 19 to May 20, 2026, which means the Sun is in the sign of the Bull. The Sun moves approximately one degree per day, so solar transits are pretty brief. But that doesn’t mean they can’t pack a punch! Every 30 days or so, the Sun visits a new zodiac sign. During this “season” everyone feels the prevailing energy, no matter what Sun sign you were born under. A solar return marks your birthday! Use our Solar Return Calculator to generate a chart for where you’ll be spending your birthday.

Where is the moon right now?

In May 2026, there are two full moons: the Scorpio full moon on May 1 and the Sagittarius (blue) full moon on May 31; and one new moon: the Taurus new moon on May 16. We ALL feel the energy of the collective energy of new moons and full moons each month, even more so when they are supermoons or eclipses. The moon actually changes signs every 2-3 days, governing our inner desires and feelings. Because the moon moves so frequently, we recommend using an app to track its exact movement. Use our Moon Sign Calculator to find where the moon is in your birth chart.

Where is Mercury right now?

Mercury is in Taurus from May 2 to 17, 2026. Mercury the messenger is the celestial super-connector. During a Mercury transit, approximately every way we communicate with others comes under a microscope. We want to build bridges—or maybe tear them down. Who wants to brainstorm, research or learn something new (and fast)? These are brilliant times for clever innovation or drumming up short-term solutions to get us over a hump. Three to four times a year Mercury goes retrograde, and chaos can ensue with communication, technology and travel, all things under Mercury’s rule! Use our Mercury Sign Calculator to find where Mercury is in your birth chart.

Where is Venus right now?

Venus is in Gemini from April 24 to May 18, 2026. Venus is the peace, love and harmony planet and these transits bring sweet romance and creative inspiration. Decorating, hosting parties, styling our hair and wardrobes: Venus is the astro aesthete. These can be stellar times for building bridges—but peace at any price? We have to be careful not to gloss over conflict during a Venus transit or become saccharine instead of authentic. Every 18 months, Venus turns retrograde for about 6-8 weeks, adding extra chapters to an ongoing love story. Use our Venus Sign Calculator to find where Venus is in your birth chart.

Where is Mars right now?

Mars is in Aries from April 9 to May 18, 2026. Warrior planet Mars rouses us to action, bringing fierceness and passion to whatever it touches. During a Mars transit, we’ll feel fired up and ready to take on the world—which can veer into being aggressive or combative. Mars transits ask us to look at how we fight for things and what we’re fighting for. Is it worth the battle? Are we being strategic enough? Red-hot Mars is lusty too. Our sex lives may pick up and get rather interesting during these transits. Mars retrogrades occur about every two years for about two months. Use our Mars Sign Calculator to find where Mars is in your birth chart.

Where is Jupiter right now?

Jupiter is in Cancer from June 9, 2025 to June 30, 2026. Jupiter is the cosmic Jumbotron: It magnifies and expands whatever it touches. Bigger! Stronger! Faster! A Jupiter transit can reveal what we want more (and more and more). It can bring a bountiful harvest or an opening for abundance. We can get a little TOO confident. Jupiter transits can also awaken our spirituality, our desire to travel or our entrepreneurial urges. Since it’s an outer planet, it moves more slowly and its transits have a much longer impact. Each year, Jupiter spins retrograde for about four months. Use our Jupiter Sign Calculator to find where Jupiter is in your birth chart.

Where is Saturn right now?

Saturn is in Aries from February 13, 2026 to April 12, 2028. During a Saturn transit, we may see the cracks in our foundation—or ways we need to mature and develop mastery. Some doors may close. We may feel suppressed, restricted or slowed down. This pragmatic planet pushes us to come up with practical solutions. Saturn governs the father and authority figures, particularly ones on our career path. Saturn-fueled “time outs”—especially during a retrograde, annually for about five months—have a silver lining. They force us to dig deeper or look in another direction for our happiness. Use our Saturn Sign Calculator to find where Saturn is in your birth chart.

Where is Uranus right now?

Uranus is in Gemini from April 25, 2026 to May 22, 2033. Uranus transits are like lightning strikes that jolt us out of routine. If it’s time to break a pattern or think outside the box, Uranus is your ally. A Uranus transit can bring instability, shaking the ground beneath our feet. We might even act impulsively—and regretfully so—burning bridges. The method of Uranus’ madness is to get us to THINK differently. This is the planet that rules revolutionary ideas, technology, futurism and radical change. Uranus turns retrograde annually for about five months. Use our Uranus Sign Calculator to find where Uranus is in your birth chart.

Where is Neptune right now?

Neptune is in Aries from January 26, 2026 to March 23, 2039. Dreamy, quixotic Neptune is the master of illusions. This can bode well for our artistic pursuits—Neptune transits are highly creative and cathartic. We may have psychic dreams or intuitive flashes that are difficult to put into words. Feelings should be fact-checked as they may be more symbolic than instructive. Dealing with reality ain’t easy during a Neptune transit. Neptune transits can dissolve our boundaries or remind us of the need to have better ones. Neptune also turns retrograde annually for about five months. Use our Neptune Sign Calculator to find where Neptune is in your birth chart.

Where is Pluto right now?

Pluto is in Aquarius from November 24, 2014 to January 19, 2044. As the ruler of the underworld, Pluto can cause what’s bubbling below the surface to erupt. Major transformations often occur during Pluto transits and they can feel extreme. We can get a glimpse of our shadows and discover some unsavory information about other people, too. Whatever is out of alignment with our highest good comes up for review. These changes don’t happen suddenly; they can feel like an achingly long process. Pluto’s annual retrogrades also last for approximately five months. Use our Pluto Sign Calculator to find where Pluto is in your birth chart.
